Ignatia House provides a safe place to live for women in early recovery from alcoholism. In addition to providing a comfortable place to sleep and eat, we arrange activities inside and outside the House to help support sober living. Many of our residents have little experience performing everyday tasks without alcohol. Doing laundry, caring for personal space, paying attention to their physical health--these can be challenges. Another hurdle in early sobriety is making good use of leisure time.

The Ignatia House facility includes:

  • Newly updated living quarters with all new appliances, beds, and furniture
  • Housing for up to 8 women
  • Large bathroom with seperated double sinks from toilet/shower
  • Full size kitchen
  • Laundry room with a washer and a dryer
  • Daily meals
  • Family room with television and DVD player
  • Large sitting area off of kitchen
  • Fenced backyard with a summer garden, a grill, and outdoor furniture
  • Large meeting room on the first floor, used for AA meetings for the residents and the community, plus holiday events, small fund raisers, and many other House social activities. A van is used to transport residents to meetings and various other outside activities

The next step is to call (773) 604-4644 and arrange a meeting with the House Manager.

The House Manager interviews all potential residents to be sure Ignatia House can meet their needs. For example, Ignatia House is not a medical facility so it would not be a good fit for an alcoholic woman with certain physical or mental health disorders. The interview also provides an opportunity to ask questions and to take a tour of the House.

Pick up the phone. Schedule an appointment. There is no obligation. And remember, women helping women in recovery is what Ignatia House is all about!
